This home for a young Hermosa Beach couple translated the family's needs and aesthetics directly into the over-all architectural design. Inverted floor plates provide open spaces on the ground floor while creating a unique and dynamic building envelope. The basement has a recreation, media area, sauna, and large basement window into the outdoor pool. The project consists of four bedrooms, three full, and two half bathrooms, office space, open living room, kitchen, and dining area with radiant floor heating throughout. Custom built timber trusses and expansive window openings with retractable glass doors open the mid-section of the residence to the exterior and allows for additional ventilation and natural day lighting. The unique design characteristics and rich palette of materials speak directly to a successful wholistic design process.
