Jason Alm - Owner / Principal Designer
Jason Alm founded Signature-Design in 2002 as a side business. Before moving to California, he was practicing in Chicago where he participated in the design and construction of several national award-winning projects. Jason brings more than 15 years of international design experience to the table. It is with this unique perspective that he applies critical insight to the design quality of every project. As a Principal, he has overseen the design and execution of residential and commercial tenant improvement projects throughout Los Angeles.
Jason Alm was employed by Perkins Eastman from 2003-2013, with major contributions as a project architect, project manager, and project designer. He was responsible for leading and managing teams in design and production for a variety of project types including master planning and concept design as well as construction administration. Jason brings expertise in advanced building systems and technologies and building envelope design, and is particularly knowledgeable in the sustainable design process.
Jason is a skilled designer with a clear understanding of function, form, and material issues as applied to both new construction and renovations. He has completed work on creative office space for Mullen Lowe, 72 and Sunny, Moontide Media, and GE. He is also contributing to new office space for Pacshore Partners, Gum Gum, and SSV Properties. In addition to tenant improvement projects, Jason has designed and managed multiple high-end residential projects. From design to production, Jason has continued to build his portfolio of diverse and exciting new projects. His duties as a Principal Designer include extensive interaction with internal staff, our clients, consultants, and contractors. Providing leadership roles within the office have become necessary to maintain the day to day operations of multiple projects, in addition to reviewing process and documentation to ensure the firm's overall design intent is successfully manifested into the completed build.
Ignacio Melendez - Project Designer
Ignacio joined the Signature-Design team in 2018 to help take on the day-to-day design and project management work. Having worked with Jason in a previous company, the two knew they work well together and would compliment one another.
Ignacio has been in the architecture and design industry for over ten years, and comes from Spain where he went to both Architectural school and Interior Design school for college. Ignacio also has an additional degree in Construction Engineering.
